A 14-year-old Teen Crashes Stolen Car After Police Chase

Glendale police released a dashcam video of a 14-year-old reckless driver who stole a car from a dealership and led police on a chase before crashing into a light pole.

A 14-year-old teen who stole a Kia car evaded police at the intersection of Green Bay Avenue and Florist Avenue in Glendale, Wisconsin on 24th August. The boy continued the race heading southbound.

Several blocks later the stolen red Kia eventually got out of control as several Glendale police officers followed in pursuit and crashed, hitting a light pole.

The car had been stolen from a nearby dealership on 18th August. The dealership manager explained that this is not the first case in which teens break into the cars, drop the steering column and use needle-nose pliers to turn the ignition and all this in less than a minute.

The 14-year-old driver who was the only person in the car was arrested, treated for minor injuries, and then he was released.

A 13-year-old boy was also arrested back at the dealership.

Community activist Tracey Dent said: “This is serious. This is not a game. This is not a game. People are afraid to drive in the city of Milwaukee. It’s chaos here.”

Dent says that such cases occur due to the fact that the fines are small, teenagers are rarely punished and are often released within a few hours.

He also created a citizens’ petition to show the city and the court that there is reason to support increased sanctions for reckless driving.
