A cow elk and its calf are seen making their way on the steep paths of the wooded area. The sight of the two elk walking around was captured at 5.53 am in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado on 15th June. The elk (Cervus canadensis), also known as wapiti, is one of the largest species in the deer family, Cervidae and one of the largest terrestrial mammals in North America, as well as Central and East Asia. The word waapiti comes from Shawnee and Cree and means”white rump”.
