Black Hawk Down: US Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing On Bucharest Roundabout

This is the dramatic moment a US Black Hawk helicopter makes an emergency landing on a roundabout in the Romanian capital Bucharest as city residents gasp in shock.

The US Black Hawk was forced to carry out an emergency landing on a busy road on Charles de Gaulle Square earlier this morning. (15 July).

Traffic in the immediate area was stopped as a precaution, however, no one was injured in the incident.

The US helicopter was part of a group that was training ahead of Aviation Day, which takes place on 20th July.

According to reports, the helicopter started to lose altitude and ended up landing on Aviatorilor Boulevard.

During the emergency landing, the Black Hawk reportedly knocked down two street lights which ended up damaging two cars.

Both the US military and the Romanian police said they are investigating the incident.

The news site Digi24 said the US authorities will assemble a commission of top specialists to determine what caused the Black Hawk’s emergency landing in the centre of Bucharest.

The US Embassy in Bucharest stated they are “aware of the incident, and we are closely following developments. Information says there are no victims. We’re working with our Romanian partners to resolve the situation and provide up-to-date information as it becomes available”.
