Cadillac Driver Ignores Warning Signs And Plunges Into Huge Sinkhole On Road

These images show a Cadillac submerged in water in a huge sinkhole after the owner reportedly ignored the signs placed around it.

The incident took place in the town of Upper Marlboro in Prince George’s County located in the US state of Maryland

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) based in Prince George’s County placed warning signs around a large sinkhole that appeared at South Osborne Road and Crain Highway.

According to 7News, the Cadillac driver only suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Meanwhile, WSSC teams worked all day at the scene to turn off the water in the area and drain the sinkhole. The Cadillac was eventually lifted out of the sinkhole by crane at around 4.30pm.

The WSSC still needs to continue pumping water out of the sinkhole so they can begin repairing the water main and they asked locals to adhere to “traffic directions, and respect the work zone”.

WSSC Water said on Twitter on 11th August: “Our crews respond to an avg of 1,800 water main breaks every year. If you see our crews, our trucks plz follow traffic directions and respect the work zone. Help us keep you and our team safe!”

Two hours later, WSSC Water confirmed: “The vehicle is out! Still some water to pump out of the hole before crews can begin the repairs to the water main. Long day and a long night of repairs ahead.”
