California Fire Spreads So Fast It Crosses Into Nevada As 1,200 Firefighters Battle Inferno

These images show how a massive fire in California spread so fast it crossed into Nevada as over 1,200 firefighters battle the blaze.

The Tamarack Fire in northern California has crossed into Nevada, triggering more evacuations.

Burning through more than 68 square miles of national forest woodland just south of Lake Tahoe, it started on 4th July due to lightning strikes. According to forestry officials, the fire started after a bolt of lightning hit a single tree on top of a rocky ridgetop.

Over 1,200 firefighters are battling the blaze, with officials concerned with the weather forecast, as 14-mph winds and high temperatures mean that the blaze could worsen before the situation improves.

The latest footage shows firefighters struggling to tackle massive walls of flames as everything around them burns.

As of Thursday evening, the fire was still going strong, with the outlook appearing rather bleak, as the night into Friday was not expected to be a particularly humid one.

Firefighters are currently doing their best to protect people’s homes and other buildings in affected communities.

The fire has so far burned through nearly 44,000 acres of land and on Wednesday evening it crossed the border into Nevada, reaching Highway 395.

Officials issued evacuation notices and urged people to seek shelter at the local community centre.
