Chinese Influencer Wows With Incredible Slinky Skills
This is the moment a Chinese influencer shows off his incredible slinky skills.
Wu Wuqiang, 32, from the city of Dongguan in the south-eastern Chinese province of Guangdong, has become an online sensation for his quick-handed skills with the classic toy.
He said he started practising with the slinky, a helical spring toy invented by American engineer Richard T James in the early 1940s, back in 2009.
Wuqiang said he also hopes to promote the toy online as a new fad everyone can enjoy.
In his videos, the skilful influencer whips the slinky around his body and spins it around on one hand, even passing it through his legs and using his feet and head to keep the toy moving.
One clip shows Wuqiang using the help of eight serious-looking companions as he shows off his impressive slinky moves in front of them.
Practitioners can perform a number of tricks with a slinky, most famously using it to travel down a flight of steps as it stretches and re-forms itself with gravity and its own momentum.
Richard T James first demonstrated the slinky at Gimbels department store in Philadelphia in November 1945, and it became an instant hit, selling all 400 units in just 90 minutes.
In physics terms, the slinky is governed by the rules of Hooke’s law and the effects of gravity.
