Chinese Motorist Films Bridge Bouncing Wildly In Strong Winds
This is the moment a stunned motorist films a bridge bouncing wildly during a heavy storm and decides against crossing.
The incident was filmed in Sinan County in the city of Tongren located in the landlocked Chinese province of Guizhou at around 2pm on 3rd May.
During a heavy storm, a motorist filmed a chain bridge swaying wildly in the strong wind and shared the footage on the Chinese social network Douyin.
The first video shows the bridge bouncing up and down as the filming motorist waits at one end, apparently having second thoughts about taking the risky crossing.
In the second clip, the bridge is seen flipping from side to side as well as arcing up and down, potentially throwing any daredevil pedestrians or road users into the fast-moving river below.
The local authorities later confirmed that two chain bridges in the area have been closed for repair and that no casualties were reported.
The following day, local resident Ms Bai said on social media: “The two bridges catered for pedestrians and vehicles, but they are both damaged now and no one can pass.”
Eyewitness Mr Wang said the weather conditions damaged the guardrails on both sides of the bridge.
