A violation of towing rules on a motorway resulted in a dangerous car accident when the driver of the motorcycle became entangled in the tow cord.

The incident on the Havana Bridge that stretches over the entrance to the Kyiv Harbour was captured on video by “Safe City” surveillance cameras and the registrar of a traffic participant. The video was posted on the Facebook page of Kyiv Patrol Police on 12th April 2021.

As the footage shows, a Mercedes was towing a Geon motorcycle, which is strictly forbidden by traffic laws.

The motorcyclist became entangled in the tow cord, lost balance, and dropped from the seat, which ended up under the wheels of a BMW vehicle heading in the same direction in the adjacent lane.

The driver of the motorcycle sliding on the asphalt collided with the moving BMW but fortunately did not end up under the massive vehicle’s wheels.

Despite his apparent discomfort, he quickly crawled away from the car and was taken to the hospital with not life treating injuries.

Towing bikes and bicycles on Kyiv’s highway is strictly forbidden, as the police reminded the other participants in their post of the video.
