Coast Guard Rescue Two Downed Pilots Off Hawaii Coast

Kalaeloa, Hawaii, 2 July

Two passengers were recovered from a crashed Boeing 737 inter-island transport jet about 2-miles south of Kalaeloa which is a census-designated place in the Honolulu County in the US state of Hawaii. The people were rescued by the Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department on 2nd July. After the successful rescue mission the people were transported to the Queen’s Medical Center by a MH-65 Dolphin Eurocopter from Air Station Barbers Point M. A rescue boat from the Honolulu Fire Department was also included in the operation. The police reported that both of the people’s health is in a stable condition. The reasons behind the incident are currently under investigation.

Honolulu Sector watch stander and Second Class Petty Officer Masato Nakajima stated: “Our teams regularly train closely with our counterparts in the Honolulu Fire Department for circumstances like this one. Our preparation paid off, and we were able to swiftly send reaction units to the location and retrieve the two persons aboard the plane.”
