Coast Guard Rescues A Man After His Boat Overturns Near Bluff Point

San Francisco, California, 7 July

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from the Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco conducted a rescue for a man whose boat capsized. The rescue mission took place near Bluff Point in the San Francisco Bay on Wednesday morning (7 July). The rescue mission was conducted after the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders received a report about a man who was clinging on to his overturned 12-foot aluminium johnboat.

The Coast Guard learned that the man was drifting toward the Richmond/San Rafael bridge before he lost contact with the Coast Guard. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter was launched to go to the scene and look for the overturned johnboat. After a brief search, the boat was located and a crew member was lowered to rescue the man. The man was hoisted onto the helicopter which then returned to Air Station San Francisco. The rescued man was reported to be in good condition with no medical concerns.
