This is the shocking moment a cop hits a detained man with a baton before another officer apparently pins him down with a knee on his neck.

The footage was taken in the city of Pachuca in the Mexican state of Hidalgo. It is unclear when it happened but it was first reported by local sources on 9th May.

The police were called to the scene after a citizen was assaulted following a traffic accident, but no further information was given on the incident.

The video shows a municipal policeman walking towards a man who is pinned to the ground and begins to hit him with his baton.

The cameraperson says: “Look, they are abusing their authority. This policeman is abusing his authority.”

The baton-wielding officer is seen repeatedly hitting the man on his face and legs while another policeman keeps him pinned down by sitting on his torso and holding him by the neck.

The video goes on to show a second group of officers arresting a second suspect who can barely be seen as she is pinned down by two cops as only her leg is seen on the ground.

The filmmaker says: “Abuse. Abuse. No, no, no. This can’t happen. Abusers. Look at this.”

The video ends as one officer apparently has his knee directly on the suspect’s head while another officer puts on the handcuffs.

The Municipal Police said in a statement that the officers involved had been reported for potentially “acting out of the established protocol”.

The statement added: “We asked the commission of honour and justice to start an investigation over the actions of the agents who attended the call.”

The investigation is ongoing.
