Cop Run Over By Teen Mum, 18, Arrests Her Even Though His Wrist Broken In 2 Places

This is the shocking moment an officer successfully arrests a hysterical teenage mum by dragging her from her vehicle, despite the fact that she had just run over his hand, fracturing it in two places.

The footage was released by the Evansville Police Department (EPD) on Wednesday 26th May but the incident happened in the city of Evansville in the American state of Indiana on Monday 24th May.

Local sources said EPD Officer Nathan Jones was on patrol in his car when a man, who has not been named, flagged him down and asked for a lift out of the area claiming that he had just been in a domestic dispute.

The video shows Officer Jones speaking with the unnamed man who was giving details of the domestic incident when his girlfriend, identified as 18-year-old Maeling Smith, pulled up in her car, apparently with her infant child on the back seat.

The teenager was clearly upset, and exits the vehicle, calling the man a liar before Officer Jones commands her to get back inside.

The suspect and policeman yell at each other for some time before the officer approaches the young woman and tries to place her in handcuffs as she clearly does not want to calm down.

However, Smith is seen refusing to cooperate when Officer Jones appears to fall to the ground and is dragged for a distance with her running over his hand, before he manages to stand back up and pull out his gun to arrest the suspect.

Smith then steps out of her vehicle before she is taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs, as she and the unnamed man plead for the officer to let her go as reinforcements arrive.

The video ends as Jones is heard clearly in pain as other units arrive at the scene.

Smith had her infant child, who was unharmed in the incident, in the backseat during the altercation and child services have taken the baby from the suspect, according to local sources.

EPD Sergeant Nick Winsett said: “It had to be adrenaline – it was amazing. He had two breaks in his wrist.”(sic) (https://bit.ly/3uxzjVA)

He added that the fact that Jones was able to “draw his weapon and effect an arrest on the suspect is just amazing.”
