Cop Shoots Mum After She Starts Stabbing Her Own Son, 10, Following A Drawn Out Standoff

This is the moment a cop opens fire on a mother who allegedly stabbed her 10-year-old son multiple times despite the cops pleading with her to let him leave.

The footage showing cops pleading with Evelyn Del Real, 31, to let her 10-year-old son go before shooting her once she allegedly begins to stab him was released by Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on 28th October.

The incident occurred in the Los Angeles division of Newton at around 7 pm on 1st October and resulted in both Del Real and her son being hospitalised.

In the dramatic bodycam footage, a phone conversation between an officer and Del Real can be heard.

The officer pleads with Del Real to let her son leave the house, but she refuses and keeps the boy at knifepoint.

The standoff continued and eventually, a SWAT team was called in, but before they arrived, the situation escalated.

Police officer Juan Arenas entered the house and tried to convince Del Real to put the knife down, but she allegedly suddenly started stabbing the young boy.

Arenas fired on the woman, after which she was transferred to hospital alongside the boy, who had suffered several stab wounds.

The LAPD stated that Del Real, who reportedly suffers from mental illness, has been charged with attempted murder.

The last update on the boy’s health status said that his condition was stable.

No cops were harmed in the course of the incident and the investigation into Del Real is ongoing.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is also investigating whether the force the officer in question used was appropriate.
