This is the moment a giant truck veers out of control through a crash barrier after an exploding tyre sent it straight into the path of terrified car drivers.

The out-of-control truck shot across two lanes on the motorway in Izmir, Turkey, after destroying the barrier between two carriageways.

Terrifying dashcam footage – recorded on 1st July – of the smash shows the truck suddenly sliding into the barrier as a puff of high-pressure compressed air erupts from a tyre.

The driver – travelling between the city districts of Karsiyaka and Bornova – loses control and the truck starts ploughing the wrong way up the highway.

One driver, named as Hamza Can Erdonmez, 30, can be seen swerving across two lanes of traffic to just miss a collision.

According to local media, the lorry driver was left in a state of shock and sat on the central reservation after the incident.

Some of the lorry’s cargo shed on the ring road and local authorities closed lanes to clear up the debris.

The police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
