Deputies Rescue Boaters After Strong Waves And Bad Weather Overwhelmed Their Boat

Apollo Beach, Florida, 19 June

Aerial footage from a rescue-chopper shows Aviation Pilots and Marine Unit Deputies rescuing a group of people whose boat had become overwhelmed by big waves and bad weather last Saturday (19th June). The large waves and strong winds had dragged the boat of course and eventually killed the engine. Two miles from the shore and without any means to get to safety the passengers called 911. The aviation unit helped locate the boat and gave deputies directions so that they could find it. The deputies pulled up beside the distressed boaters in their police boat. The passengers put on life jackets and jumped into the water and swam to the side of the police boat. The deputies pulled them to safety and took them to shore. Everyone onboard the boat survived the incident without any major injuries.
