This is the bizarre moment a dog is caught riding on the back of its owner’s motorbike on a busy road wearing a helmet, a high visibility vest and even a pair of sunglasses.

The footage was captured by a stunned driver in Montevideo the capital of the small South American country of Uruguay last Friday (24th April).

The driver recording the four-legged motorbike passenger pulls up next to the dog at a red light and laughs as the dog turns its face towards the camera with its tongue out and sunglasses resting on its nose.

The footage was uploaded to Twitter by the netizen ‘Maxinoe1304 ‘ with the caption “My country” and it quickly went viral being shared 3,600 times and racking up 235,000 views in just two days.

Netizens reacted to the footage expressing their astonishment and amusement, ‘Cande Suarez’ said: “this video has given me a dose of serotonin that will keep a smile on my face for the next three days”.

Whilst ‘CaamiCaarp_’ commented: “Look at his face, he is so happy.”

However, there expressed their concern for the dog’s safety such as ‘sofi.damelio’ who questioned why no one was talking about the dog safety stating: “What if it gets spooked and jumps off the bike?”.

The clip ends with the driver of the car laughing in astonishment as the red light turns green and the dog and its owner continue on their journey.
