Durham Cops Set Up Stinger To Stop Speeding Suspect In Nick Of Time
This is the moment Durham cops set up a “textbook” stinger to burst three of the four tyres of a speeding suspect on the A1 in the nick of time.
In the footage, a police officer is seen extending the stinger across both lanes on the A1 seconds before the suspect drives over it.
The Durham Constabulary said on Facebook: “Durham traffic cops execute a ‘textbook’ stinger deployment.
“This BMW driver failed to stop for police yesterday afternoon and hightailed it up the A1(M) at speeds of over 100mph.
“Assisting our colleagues at West Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Police, our traffic cops conducted a rolling roadblock to clear a section of motorway.
“Waiting just over the Durham border, our officers executed this textbook stinger deployment to bring the BMW to a halt.”
The police said that the driver stopped less than two miles later with three of the four tyres blown out by the stinger.
The authorities added that no injuries took place and no police vehicles were damaged.
As a result of the operation, two suspects have been arrested.
The police added that it was a “job well done”.
Facebook user ‘Lesley Bell’ commented: “Well done Durham Constabulary for your efforts and keeping us all safe!”
Netizen ‘Karen Gowland’ said: “Anyone failing to stop and reaching those speeds such get a lifetime ban.”
