Five Miami Beach Cops Are Facing Assault Charges For Violent Arrests

Five policemen are charged with first-degree misdemeanour assault after a violent arrest.

Six officers were involved in a brutal arrest at the Royal Palm Hotel, in Miami Beach, Florida, according to State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle on 26th July.

Sgt. Jose Perez, Officer Kevin Perez, Officer Robert Sabater, Officer David Rivas, and Officer Steven Serrano were identified.

Officer bodycam footage and footage from the hotel lobby were provided by Fernandez Rundle, showing cops kicking a detained man.

According to the authorities, officers confronted Daltona Crudup, 24, for improperly parking a scooter on 9th Street and Ocean Court.

Crudup eluded authorities and hit a policeman with his scooter, according to officials. The cop was taken to the hospital with a leg injury that necessitated the use of crutches.

Crudup attempted to flee and fled into the lobby of a hotel on Collins Avenue, where he was apprehended by cops.

Crudup was seen running into an elevator at the hotel where he was staying in the video published Monday. Behind him, a cop held him at gunpoint and brought him into jail.

However, many more cops arrived shortly after, and Crudup was kicked in the head numerous times while on the ground and in handcuffs, according to Fernandez Rundle.

Miami Beach Police Chief Richard Clements stated on Monday that “it was upsetting to watch the way our officers responded.”

“We will grow as an agency as a result of this.”
