Harrowing Scenes Of Cruel Workers Kicking And Punching Cows On South Wales Dairy Farm

This shocking footage taken on a South Wales dairy farm linked to suppliers of Costa, Morrisons and British Airways allegedly shows cruel workers kicking and punching cows.

The harrowing scenes were filmed by an undercover investigator from the animal-welfare organisation Animal Equality on a dairy farm in Carmarthenshire.

The footage was filmed in secret on the dairy farm, which keeps over 650 cows and calves, in late 2021.

According to Animal Equality, the farm supplies the UK’s largest independent dairy wholesaler and processor, Freshways.

Freshways distributes dairy products to a number of major retailers and companies, including Costa Coffee, British Airways, Londis, Budgens and P&O Cruises.

The London-based company also supplies Morrisons, which, in turn, supplies products to restaurants, cafes and Amazon Fresh.

The undercover investigation allegedly showed how managers on the farm let cows suffer despite knowing they were in intense and prolonged pain.

On one occasion, despite a veterinarian recommending immediate euthanasia for a cow whose calf had died inside her, the farm manager chose to delay action.

He reportedly did this in order to cut costs, despite the price of euthanasia being at most GBP 40.

The vet was recorded as saying: “This is a place where they prefer to save money”. The cow in question died during the night.

Abigail Penny, executive director of Animal Equality UK, said: “We are urging the authorities to use the full force of the law to hold this farm accountable for its abusive actions towards animals. A conviction of cruelty won’t help those cows who were brutally beaten or left to die in agony overnight, but it will send a strong message to this industry that the UK will not tolerate such cruelty.”

The law firm Advocates for Animals has lodged a complaint on behalf of Animal Equality with Carmarthenshire County Council, the local authority responsible for investigating such offences.
