Icelandic Volcano Spews Fountain Of Molten Magma In Front Of Crowd

This is the incredible moment of an eruption at an Icelandic volcano that spews glowing orange lava hundreds of feet into the air creating a fountain of lava in front of a crowd.

The incredible footage was recorded at the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Geldingadalir located near the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.

The eruption was first reported on 19th March, but the volcano was reported to be stable shortly after that.

However, recent reports revealed that the volcano had then erupted back into life and quickly become more powerful, and volatile, cycling between stages of almost complete stoppage to spewing lava hundreds of feet into the air.

The latest reports indicate that this is continuing to happen at least as of yesterday (4 May).

The eruption drew curious hikers who watched and filmed the moment of some of the eruptions.

The video shows several visitors standing at what they believed to be a safe distance from the volcano as it spews out hot lava high into the air, reportedly as high as 300 metres (984 feet) at the time.

The lava, which emits a bright orange glow, makes for an incredible view as it flows down and surrounds the volcano forming a small stream along its base as columns of smoke go up into the air.

Local sources said the spewed lava can be clearly seen even from the Icelandic capital city of Reykjavik.

Despite the proximity however, there have been no reports of the volcanoeruptions placing nearby areas or citizens in danger.
