Japanese Gamer Completes 1,000 Strong Collection Of Every Nintendo Cartridge Ever Released For The NES

A Japanese gamer has completed his collection of over a thousand Nintendo cartridges including every game ever released commercially for the Nintendo Entertainment System, better known as the NES.

While these images may look like a specialist videogame shop for retro gamers, it is in fact the private collection of a particularly dedicated fan in Japan who set out to get his hands on a copy of every single game ever released for the NES (also known as the Famicom in Japan), which was first released in 1983 in Japan.

The collector, who goes by the Twitter handle ‘corner_mask’, said it took nearly 10 years to complete the collection of 1,053 games.

Every single game is reportedly in its original box with the instruction manual, and the collector even has the accessories that were released for the console, including a running pad and a karaoke add-on.

The collector said that the most that he had ever paid for one of the games was about JPY 200,000 (GBP 1,300), for Battle Rush: Build Up Robot Tournament.

The total cost for the entire collection was about JPY 3 million (just GBP 19,769), a bargain-hunting feat in itself.

The NES was a gaming console that revolutionised the videogame industry. Released by Nintendo in 1983, it included hit games such as the original Super Mario Bros trilogy, The Legend of Zelda, Tetris, and Donkey Kong.
