Kayakers Film Grazing Bear At Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Alaska, 26th July

Kayakers spotted and managed to film a bear calmly grazing on the shore of a river.

The serene moment was caught on camera by kayakers who were kayaking in a river in the Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Alaska. The video was shared by the National Park yesterday (26th July).

According to the statement from the park, the kayakers were drifting in the river when they noticed a black bear walking next to the river shore. The bear was calmly walking around grazing on some grass and plants.

The kayakers managed to keep in position, at a safe distance without upsetting the animal and pulled out their cameras to film the unique moment.

They followed the grazing bear for a while, capturing the sound of the bear munching on grass as it moved along the shore.

Posting the video, the park commented: “Bears are much more vegetarian than their reputation would imply. Plants are abundant and don’t run away, so they’ll do when other prey — like salmon — is harder to find or catch.”
