This is the moment a missing dog chases after its owner’s old car after recognising it on the street.

The incident was filmed in the city of Zhenjiang in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu on 16th May.

According to the news site Baidu, the new owner of the battery-operated vehicle saw a dog chasing after him for several kilometres while driving on the street.

He explained that he had recently bought the car from a resident in the area and the pooch apparently mistakenly believed its owner was inside.

After realising that he was being chased by the pooch hoping to find its original owner inside, the vehicle owner said he allowed the dog to hop onto the passenger seat, and then returned it to the previous car owner’s house.

The pet owner was glad the buyer was kind enough to give the canine a ride back home. He said that he had lost the dog and had no idea where it had gone and was glad to be reunited with it.

In the footage, the battery-operated vehicle is seen driving along the road as a brown dog runs behind it through different parts of the city.

The city of Zhenjiang is best known for its fragrant black vinegar, a staple of Chinese cuisine.
