Moment Firefighters Save Golden Retriever From Waterfall Ridge
This is the heroic moment Canadian firefighters save an elderly Golden Retriever from a wet ridge in front of a waterfall.
Firefighters managed to save the dog at Gold Creek Golden Ears Provincial Park in Maple Ridge in the Canadian province of British Columbia on Wednesday, 5th May.
The rescued dog is an elderly Golden Retriever named Rex.
Maple Ridge Fire and Rescue received information about a dog that plunged over the lower falls at Gold Creek and was in danger.
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, they found the dog in a spot at the bottom of the falls that was hard to access and it was unable to get out on its own.
According to local media, the dog and its owners crossed the fence in the danger zone above the falls where Rex slipped.
The fire chief, Howard Exner, said that Rex could have died because of the height of about 10 to 12 metres from which he fell down.
Exner said: “This is the same place that caused the death of many, many people.”
The fire chief added: “One of our own members broke his leg during a training exercise a couple of weeks ago in the exact same place.”
According to Maple Ridge Firefighters, this is the second rescue operation this year at the falls. The first rescue operation was in April and they had to rescue a person.
No one from the rescue crew was injured and Rex was safely reunited with his owners.
