This is the moment a goat set to be sacrificed for the Muslim festival Eid-al-Adha jumps off a roof and makes a run for it.

The footage was filmed in the neighbourhood of Sakirpasa in the district of Seyhan located in the city of Adana in southern Turkey.

It shows the goat on the roof of a building after escaping from its owners. It them ducks under some barbed wire and jumps off, landing heavily on the ground two storeys below.

Apparently uninjured, it gets to its feet and starts to head down the street but a man can be seen waiting for it downstairs.

After the footage ends, he reportedly caught it.

The goat’s fate is unclear but it is believed that it was slaughtered in the end.

Eid-al-Adha is a Muslim festival that marks Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his own son. It is not to be confused with Eid-al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan when Muslims fast for a month.

At least a third of the meat is traditionally given to the poor and the vulnerable.
