This is the moment a pregnant leopard coolly walks up to a dog sleeping on the porch of an Indian home and sinks its fangs into the pet’s neck before walking off with it in its mouth.

The incident was filmed outside a house in the village of Bhuse in the city of Nashik located in the Indian state of Maharashtra last week.

In the CCTV footage, the leopard is seen walking along the road before slipping between the bars of a metal fence and entering the porch area of a property.

The leopard, apparently pregnant, approaches a sleeping dog on the porch and stands over it, sniffing it as if checking what is.

The dog apparently wakes from its slumber when it senses something hovering just above it, however, as soon set moves the leopard immediately sinks its fangs into the pet’s neck.

The predator leaves behind a bloody mess on the ground for the dog’s owner to find later before slipping past the fence and walking off with the pooch in its mouth as the clip ends.

It is unclear if the local authorities were informed of the incident and plan to take action over the roaming leopard.

Twitter user ‘Mungfali’ commented: “This should not have happened. Pet dog should be kept inside the house.”

Netizen ‘Khushanshu’ said: “This is what happens when urban areas move into the forest.”

Another online commentator with the tag ‘Murder She Wrote’ remarked: “She’s a pregnant female leopard, it’s clearly visible. Probably at that stage they have difficulty hunting due to massive body weight, deers are too fast for them. Hence this.”
