Mystery Man In A Coma After Collapsing On Street Is Identified By Wife And Kids He Has Forgotten
A woman worried about her husband was shocked when it was discovered he had collapsed in the street and ended up in a coma and, even worse, he had no memory of who she was or his children when he woke up.
Ng Aik Lep, 34, who was working in Singapore to earn money for his family back home in Malaysia had told his wife Liu that he was going to get a checkup after feeling unwell for several days.
She was speaking to him after the checkup on the phone where he said doctors had not found anything, and further tests were needed, when the conversation suddenly ended.
The worried young woman had then contacted his friend in the island city of Singapore who filed a missing person report with police, and eventually, they worked out that he was in hospital after being found unconscious on the street.
Shockingly, instead of helping him, a passerby had stolen his wallet and phone meaning police had no way of identifying who he was until they got the missing person report that matched the man who they had taken to the local Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
His worried family who were told that he had suffered a stroke we then left waiting desperately for him to awake, and were horrified when they realised that he no longer remembered his wife and children, or indeed any of his family.
He was also struggling to think properly and even to feed himself.
Meanwhile, the medical bills are piling up, and his family for whom he is the sole breadwinner have now launched a fundraiser to try and bring him home and reduce the medical bills.
His wife Liu said: “He is like a child. His eating movement is not very smooth, and he needs someone to take care of him.”
Liu explained that the current medical bill in Singapore has already exceeded SGD 60,000 (GBP 32,295) and is expected to increase.
The concerned wife added that she intends to learn how to bake cakes to raise money for her husband’s medical costs, adding that his insurance only covers SGD 15,000 (GBP 8,075) of the accumulating bill.
