Officer Saves A Person Who Was Asleep In A Vehicle That Caught On Fire

Hayward, California, 29th June

The Hayward Police Department released a body camera video of an officer rescuing a human from a vehicle on fire.

Officers from the Hayward Police Department responded to a report of a parked car on fire with the motor “revving” on a parking lot in Hayward, California, on 29th June.

The caller was concerned that there might be an occupant who was asleep in the driver’s seat.

The first cop on the scene noticed the car was on fire but couldn’t tell if there were people inside since the windows were heavily tinted and the doors were locked. The cop shattered the passenger side window with his baton, allowing him to see someone inside and call for him to exit the vehicle. The officer approached the driver’s side of the vehicle and dragged the (only) occupant to safety.

Shortly after, Hayward firemen arrived on the site and put out the fire.

The Hayward Police Department stated that the officer’s fast thinking and bravery likely saved the life of this person.
