Penguin Chicks At Dallas Zoo Take Their First Plunge

Two penguin chicks at Dallas Zoo have experienced their first swim in front of a crowd of visitors.

The exciting moment was filmed by Dallas Zoo staff who then posted the video on their Facebook page.

In the video, the penguin pair is led to the pool by a zoo keeper. Hesitant about what they are supposed to do, they stare at the water.

One of the penguins is picked up and placed in the water by a zookeeper, immediately getting accustomed to its new surroundings.

The other penguin follows, jumping in the pool on its own.

The chicks confidently swim around, seemingly loving the attention they get from visitors.

Dallas Zoo told Clipzilla: “They will be swimming daily with the rest of the flock.”

Both chicks hatched at the beginning of the year.

The older one hatched on 20th January and is raised by expert parents Pickles and Althea. The chick is bold and brave and with a fiery personality.

The younger chick hatched on 5th February to parents Charlee and Tazo and is said to be sweet and shy.

The young ones don’t have names just yet. Zoologists prefer to wait a few months before naming chicks to be able to get to know them and see their personality traits, which are just starting to emerge.
