This is the moment a runaway horse gallops straight into an oncoming car with a sickening thud before gingerly getting to its feet and continuing on its way.

The incident was filmed between the towns of Siblin and Ketermaya in the Mount Lebanon Governorate of Lebanon on 19th March.

The accident resulted in the horse suffering heavy bruising while the car was badly damaged by the impact. The incident also caused a hold-up on the street.

According to an eyewitness, the area separating the two towns is commonly used for horseback riding and the runaway horse somehow threw its rider.

The head of the ‘Yasa for Road Safety’ association in Lebanon, Ziad Akl, said they shared the footage to prevent similar incidents taking place on the roads again.

The footage shows the horse galloping along the side of the road. One motorist manages to avoid the runaway animal while the driver behind can only brake to a stop,

The horse runs directly into the front of the car with a sickening thud and is knocked onto its back as another driver screeches to a halt in the road.

The horse gingerly stands up and pauses a moment before continuing on its way.
