Sea Lion Rescue

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Video shows the loving reunion of a stray sea lion pup who was rescued and reunited with his mother. The SeaWorld San Diego Rescue Team was called for an abandoned pup in the La Jolla area, San Diego city in California. Upon arrival, the staff were able to safely relocate the sea lion to a group of female sea lions and the young sea lion immediately knew which was his mother. The two then quickly began bonding again. Tracy Spahr, the SeaWorld San Diego Public Relations expert told Clipzilla: “During sea lion pup season it’s possible for pups to be distanced from their mothers. Motherly love is extremely important to young pups and their survival, although they may part temporarily they tend to find their way back to one another.”

Tracy explained that this is not the first rescue call they received. “The SeaWorld San Diego Rescue Team receives calls often from concerned patrons who see a sea lion pup alone, our team will monitor and assess, we do suggest and often allow some time for a pup to be reacquainted with their mothers because that is the best chance for survival.” They also added: “We are as happy as they are to see them together again.”
