This is the moment Surrey cops stop a woman driving the wrong way on the M25 shortly before finding her glugging wine from an opened bottle.

The incident took place on the M25 at Leatherhead between Junction 8 and 9 at around 8.50pm on 10th February.

After a police investigation, Hanjarina Oliveira, 39, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.

The Surrey Police said: “Officers responded to reports of a grey Vauxhall Insignia driving against the flow of traffic on the M25 at Leatherhead between Junction 8 and 9. Officers from the Roads Policing Unit responded to the reports and were forced to get head on with Oliveira’s vehicle to bring her to a stop.

“Officers immediately removed Oliveira from the vehicle, who was holding an open bottle of wine. Empty beer bottles were also found in the car.

“Oliveira was assessed by paramedics in an ambulance and during this she attempted to bite a police officer and a paramedic.”

The police said Oliveira was arrested for drink-driving, and was taken to custody where she failed to provide an evidential sample.

Surrey Police added: “Oliveira has never held a UK driving licence and declined to answer whether she held a licence in another country. Records show Oliveira was previously convicted of drink driving in 2013.”

Oliveira pleaded guilty to multiple charges and was sentenced in court on 14th June.

She was jailed for 12 months and banned from driving for three years and six months.

Investigating officer Tim Browne said: “Driving while under the influence of alcohol is completely unacceptable and Oliveira’s reckless actions could very easily have had catastrophic consequences.

“Our officers put themselves in harm’s way to stop the vehicle and thankfully we were able to prevent anyone being injured.”
