This is the moment a US firefighter rescues a dog that became trapped in the undercarriage of its owner’s pickup truck in Texas.

The dog rescue took place in the city of Lufkin in Angelina County in the US state of Texas on Sunday.

According to the Lufkin Police Department, officers, firefighters and an animal control official were called to a family home after a two-year-old German shepherd named Booger became stuck under the owner’s truck.

The family said the dog probably got scared during an overnight storm and climbed into the pickup truck’s undercarriage.

The police said: “Booger’s owner Roger Grimes said he realised what had happened when he saw his dog’s tail sticking out from under the pickup.”

Officer Zane Anthony arrived on the scene and called the fire department and Animal Control for help.

The police said in a statement on Facebook: “Lufkin Fire Capt. Eric Parrish, along with Capt. Jason Stuck and Firefighter Desmond Garcia worked together to free the frightened canine. They first had to remove the front driveshaft and sway bar.
“Because Booger was so frightened, he kept trying to bite his rescuers.

“Animal Control Officer Chad Harris sedated the dog, which allowed firefighters to muzzle him.”

The dog was soon removed from under the truck and firefighters reattached the sway bar and driveshaft.

The owner said that Booger is doing well since the ordeal and thanked the local authorities for helping the dog.

Roger Grimes said: “I hated calling, but I didn’t know anyone else who could help. I just want the say thanks to the fire department, police department, and animal control. They really pulled me out of a bind.”
