Top UK Uni Belgian Princess Elisabeth And Heir To Throne To Study At Revealed To Be Oxford

The top UK university that Princess Elisabeth of Belgium – who is the heir to the throne – is going to study at has been revealed to be Oxford University where she will undertake a three-year course in history and politics.

The news was announced by the Belgian Royal family on social media in a post in which they said that Princess Elisabeth will be attending Lincoln College at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom as of October this year.

The statement also said that the Princess will return to Belgium on a regular basis and will remain involved in public life in her home country while she studies in the UK.

The Belgian royal palace said in a statement that the princess had to complete a written entrance exam in history, specifying that it was “anonymous”, so that her social status would not affect her marks, according to Belgian newspaper Le Soir.

Elisabeth also reportedly chose what she was going to study herself, in agreement with her parents. She also reportedly consulted with alumni from various universities and made her decision based on what would be most useful to her in her role as queen later in life.

Officially known as Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant, she is the heir apparent to the throne of Belgium as she is the eldest child of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. Elisabeth, 19, became heir apparent after her grandfather Albert II abdicated in 2013.

If she one day becomes queen, she will be Belgium’s first female monarch in history.

In July this year, she took part along with her fellow Royal Military Academy Belgium students in the National Day parade.
