This is the moment a man and a woman carry out a ram raid on a Boots store and steal over GBP-15,000 worth of perfume and aftershaves.
Michael Denyer, 33, and Christina Colton, 44, were jailed for causing material damage and stealing property from a Boots store on Bythesea Road in Trowbridge on 23rd June.
The store’s CCTV camera captured the incident which began with a Ford Fiesta smashing through the store entrance.
Breaking the perfume cabinets, they stole GBP-15,221 worth of perfumes and aftershaves which they stuffed in a bag before returning to the car and fleeing the scene.
The incident cause extensive material damage to the Boots store, costing around GBP 13,406 and causing it to close temporarily.
When the police arrived at the crime scene they recovered a purse where they found Colton’s identification.
Denyer was arrested the following evening in Bristol. The police said they found evidence on his phone and the store’s CCTV on the day of the incident where he is seen conducting reconnaissance ahead of the burglary that proved the crime was pre-planned.
After pleading guilty to burglary and criminal damage, Colton was jailed for two years and nine months, which included sentencing for both this incident and twice failing to surrender to the police, while Denyer was jailed for three years.
Detective Constable James Gatherum, from Central CID, said: “Colton has repeatedly tried to evade justice for this crime and there have been warrants out for her arrest since she previously failed to appear for court hearings.
“Denyer has remained in prison for an unrelated offence, since being charged for this burglary.
“Today’s sentencing marks the end of a very long journey since the incident happened, but after a great deal of evidence gathering and delays caused by Colton, I am happy to see both defendants receive lengthy prison sentences.”
