An American female comic who was bullied at school for having a large mouth has had the last laugh after launching a successful career as an influencer and scooping a Guinness world record for ‘biggest gape’.

The mouth of Samantha Ramsdale, 31, was recognised by Guinness World Records as having the biggest gape in the world last month.

Her unique feature has helped her become an online sensation and guaranteed an army of followers who help her earn thousands of pounds every time she posts a new video.

It also gave her the chance to showcase her sense of humour and other talents, helping to launch her as a celebrity influencer.

Samantha has become so successful that she also appears on talk shows in the US and around the world.

In an extensive interview with Newsflash, she revealed how her success today is a far cry from when she was a child and often bullied over the size of her mouth.

Samantha said: “I managed to turn my biggest handicap into my biggest asset. I never thought it would work out like this and it’s crazy, but that’s how it is.”

She said it was tough when she was a child. She was once proud of her big smile, but it later caused her to be teased with names like “big bass mouth”.

Samantha’s mouth was officially clocked by Guinness as measuring 6.52 centimetres wide, which made her a world record holder in the category of ‘world’s largest mouth gape (female)’.

In a statement after the award was made, she said: “If I had advice for anyone who had a large body part, or something really unique, and they wanted to go for the Guinness World Records title, I would say do it!

“Do it proud and make it your biggest asset. It’s your superpower, it is the thing that makes you special and different from everyone else walking around.”

However, the fact that she has the biggest mouth was something her army of followers on TikTok were already aware of, and it was them who urged her to apply for the record.

She started on TikTok in 2019 and threw herself into it during lockdown when she quickly amassed an army of followers.

She specialises in comedy skits, singing parodies and videos where she makes funny faces.

Despite her best attempts at developing her singing, it was always the funny videos where she showed off her mouth that went viral.

Many of her videos show her eating enormous sandwiches or double doughnuts, or using her overlarge face to make jokes and have fun with her followers.

She said she has far more talent than just having a big mouth, but has since realised that any publicity is good publicity when you are a performer.

Samantha told Newsflash that the ability to deliver a good one-liner and also her singing ability is down to her large mouth.

She even learned to love the haters, wishing them all the best and moving on.

Samantha said she wants to encourage people to love and accept who they are, and that part of being an influencer was having the opportunity to do that.
