US Cop Shoots Armed Suspect Dead In Restaurant As Diners Flee
This is the moment a US cop shoots an armed suspect dead at close range in a restaurant as customers flee for the exit.
The incident was filmed in the city of Phoenix in the US state of Arizona on 3rd April with the Phoenix Police Department (PPD) releasing the footage on 16th April.
The police said they responded to a call of a man pointing a gun at citizens and attempting to rob them before encountering the suspect and calling on him to drop the weapon.
The man ran into a nearby restaurant with customers inside where he was again ordered to drop the gun.
In the footage, the suspect is seen entering the restaurant and apparently threatening a couple with his gun.
As the couple rushes out of the restaurant, a cop enters with his gun raised.
The armed suspect ducks behind a wall and points his gun at the officer.
Meanwhile, the cop runs around the wall repeatedly firing his gun and apparently shoots the suspect at close range.
The police said the suspect was given first aid at the scene and was transferred to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
No officers were injured in the incident.
The shot suspect was later named as Jose Arenas, 26.
The internal investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing.
According to KTAR-FM, it was the sixth shooting of the year involving a PPD officer.
