USS Theodore Roosevelt Conducts Operation In Indo-Pacific Region

The Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group is operating in the Pacific Ocean conducting an operation with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group.

The operation takes place in the South China Sea in the Indo-Pacific region this week.

It is the second time the Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group (TRCSG) locates itself in these waters. In February they performed dual-carrier drills with the Nimitz CSG.

USS Theodore Roosevelt departed San Diego for a scheduled deployment to the Indo-Pacific on 23rd of December for the second deployment of 2021.

Ships and aircraft from both groups coordinate this operation in international waters in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region. For this purpose, they conducted naval integration exercises.

While operating together with the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group, the Expeditionary Strike Force were part of a variety of evolutions including tactical maneuvering, control communications and establishing joint command.

“Combining the capabilities of the carrier strike group with those of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group sharpens our tactical skills and demonstrates our continued dedication to the security and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific”, said Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo-commander, Carrier Strike Group Nine.

“The combined Navy and Marine Corps team has been a stabilizing force in this region for more than a century and will continue to support all who share in the collective vision of peace, stability, and freedom of the seas.”
