Woman Falls Through Ice After Dogs Chase Birds Onto Frozen Lake

This is the moment cops rescue a screaming woman after her dogs chased geese onto a frozen lake and they all fell through the ice.

The rescue took place at Brighton Recreation Center in the municipality of Brighton in the US state of Colorado at the end of January.

In the footage, rescuers are seen pulling the screaming woman away from the edge of the frozen lake before venturing onto the ice to save her two dogs.

Brighton Police Department (BPD) shared the video on social media on 17th February with the message: “In late January, we were dispatched along with Brighton Fire Department and Platte Valley Ambulance Service to Brighton Recreation Center for a person who fell through the ice with her dogs.

“The lady was trying to save her dogs who chased geese onto the frozen lake. The lady and her dogs fell into the frozen lake.”

The police stated that the woman and her two pooches were safely rescued from the frozen lake without further incident.

BPD said: “Brighton Fire Battalion Chief Brunt along with Officer Slagle pulled the female out of the water. Both of the dogs were also safely helped out of the cold water.”

The police added: “We share this video for two reasons. 1) To remind you to stay off of frozen lakes. 2) To highlight the great teamwork displayed here by Brighton’s First Responder Community.”

Facebook user ‘Lisa Wenninger’ commented on the post: “Great reminder! Keep pets leashed and under control. I can’t imagine how hard it is to not run after them, even when we know better. Glad this turned out ok.”
