DARLING YOU SMELL LABIA-LY: Singer Launches New Perfume For Vaginas
Sexy Brazilian singer Anitta is to launch a new perfume especially for women’s nether regions.
Anitta, 29, who hit the headlines last year for tattooing her anus, has called her new fragrance ‘Puzzy’.
The brand was announced last week on Twitter, where she boasts 18 million followers.
She said: “It has the duration of protection, of course, but you’ll love it so much that you’ll use it like deodorant, so it’s forever!”
But gynaecologists have criticised the product, saying it’s normal for women’s intimate zones to have a distinctive odour.
Gynaecologist and obstetrician Mariana Lemos Osiro told the news site G1: “The vagina has a self-cleaning system so there is no need to wash the inside.
“You can use soft soap and water on the outside, on the vulva.”
Osiro said the vagina has an “acidic pH that protects against infections as it inhibits the growth of pathological microorganisms, such as bacteria”.
Flavia Fairbanks of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sao Paulo said soap and water is best.
She explained: “Anything far from that can change the constitution of the defence system, causing a risk of infection, bacteria and fungi.”
Gynaecologist and sexologist Carolina Ambrogini added: “Culturally, there is this idea that the female intimate region is dirty.
“Therefore, women end up washing a lot, changing the vaginal pH levels.
“Women need to be careful with excessive cleaning, using antibiotics and also with excessive sex.”
However, experts advise women to seek medical advice if their vaginal odour is very strong.
Anitta’s 2018 duet ‘Downtown’ with Colombian singer J Balvin has 640 million views on YouTube.
The singer, whose real name is Larissa de Macedo Machado, frequently sings in Spanish and English in addition to her native Portuguese.
