Polish Border Guards Drag Syrian Refugees Into Belarus And Leave Them To Fend For Themselves In Freezing Forest

This is the moment Belarusian border guards find three bedraggled Syrian refugees who had allegedly been dragged into the country by Polish border guards before taking them to hospital.

The State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus published the footage of the incident, which took place on 2nd October, on its website.

It was reported that two of the three refugees were found unconscious and the Polish guards made no attempt to help them even though they were allegedly on the verge of death.

A video shared by the committee shows drag marks on the ground, suggesting the refugees were forcibly dragged over the border and left to their fate in freezing temperatures.

One video clip shows one Syrian refugee describing how the three were caught on the Polish side by the border guards.

He said they forcibly transferred them to the Belarusian side despite their requests for asylum, and beat them when they tried to resist.

In the video, the Syrian refugee is heard saying: “They didn’t help us, they didn’t give us food or water.”

According to the statement, the refugees who were critically ill were taken by ambulance to a medical facility, and they are reportedly no longer at risk of death.

In a similar incident, Belarusian border guards found a large family from Iraq with a child with cerebral palsy near the border on Friday, 1st October.

The father reportedly said he carried his son in his arms the whole way with the hope that the boy would be able to receive treatment and gain the chance of a normal life in Europe.

The family members also alleged that Polish border guards took them to the Belarus border and made them enter Belarus illegally.

A similar incident took place involving another Iraqi family with two disabled children.

According to the mother, both children have autism, and they need special care and education that is unavailable in Iraq.

Despite the mother’s request to stay in Poland to get treatment for her children, the border guards allegedly made them cross into Belarus as well.

The State Border Committee criticised the “illegal and inhumane methods” of the Polish border guards.
