This is the moment a massive tyre explodes in a repair shop mechanic’s face and breaks the building’s roof.

The footage shows the mechanic filling up the huge tyre on the repair shop floor when it suddenly blows up, shooting into the air and smashing the roof.

The victim, who has been named as 29-year-old Nael Santos da Mata was knocked to the floor where he remained dazed for a few seconds before reportedly passing out.

A woman can then be seen rushing into the room and over to the mechanic while another man, who was apparently working on another tyre, can be seen checking on him too.

A third man, who had been sitting just across from where the tyre exploded, initially dashed out after it blew up but he is then seen coming back, apparently on his phone.

The blast from the tyre was so strong that it shot it up into the air, making a hole in the roof, with debris and broken tiles then falling into the repair shop and a motorcycle toppling over.

The incident took place in Tabocas do Brejo Velho, which is a municipality in the eastern Brazilian state of Bahia, on Wednesday, 17th August.

The two other people, who have not been named were not injured and neither was the mechanic, who reportedly quickly recovered having passed out from shock.
