Brave Firemen Save Workers And Cattle From Huge Industrial Blaze Near Madrid
This video shows firemen tackling a massive blaze at a meat warehouse near Madrid.
Newsflash obtained the footage from the Community of Madrid’s Emergency 112 Centre yesterday (Tuesday, 3rd May).
The fire broke out in a meat warehouse next to an abattoir on an industrial estate in Getafe – an industrial city close to the Spanish capital.
Firefighters were called to the scene after road users on the M-50 ring road reported seeing lots of smoke.
The first calls to the Fire Brigade were made at around 2pm.
The Community of Madrid Fire Department sent 10 fire engines and the Fuenlabrada City Council sent a further four to the area.
The firefighters evacuated 60 workers from the premises as the roof of the 14,000-square-metre building collapsed in the blaze.
After the workers were brought to safety, the firemen battled to save the cattle in the slaughterhouse next door.
According to reports, 57 cows were taken from the slaughterhouse to safety on land outside the facility.
The firemen managed to bring the blaze under control and also evacuated nearby warehouses due to the massive cloud of smoke that had drifted from the building.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze remains unknown so far.
