Moment Burly Man Shot In Head After Grabbing Cops Gun And Challenging Them To Shoot Him
This is the moment a South African cop shoots a burly man in the head after he grabs another officer’s gun and challenges them to shoot him.
The incident took place at the Misty Hills Country Hotel, Conference Centre & Spa in the rural area of Muldersdrift in the South African province of Gauteng on the night of 13th November.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), which is investigating the incident, said the shooting took place after the man, named as Len Cloete, argued with hotel staff and refused to leave the premises when the manager asked him to, even with the promise of a full refund.
Cloete reportedly asked a woman in the room, believed to be his wife, “where is my gun?” in front of officers.
A cop warned him “now you are playing dangerous” and the man replied “who is playing dangerous? You f**cking coward”.
In the footage, he is seen apparently grabbing a cop’s gun and challenging the officers to “shoot me”.
A male cop then raises his gun and apparently shoots the burly man in the head before he collapses to the ground.
IPID spokesperson Grace Langa said: “The manager asked the guest to leave, saying the lodge would refund him, [but] he refused. The security and manager followed him to his room and requested him to leave, then he became more aggressive.
“Police officers were called to assist. When the police arrived the guest started fighting with them. He took a firearm out of the bed drawer and cocked it. One bullet fell down, and it is alleged the victim disarmed one police officer of his firearm.
“The allegation is that the wife of the victim was present when it all happened.”
Cloete is reportedly in a coma in hospital under police guard.
Cloete’s wife Chantel said on Facebook: “My husband fighting for his life. My heart is completely broken. Taking day by day. We miss you! Your kids are waiting for you. Fight my man I cannot lose you, not like this. Please pray for a miracle everyone. He was shot and is currently in a coma. We love you my angel my man my everything. Please come back to us.”
The latest reports on 16th November said the victim is still in a coma and his condition is stable.
