Moment Little Hungry Hippo Tries To Jump The Queue Ahead Of Family On Way To Feast

This is the moment a family of hungry hippos slowly plods in a row on their way to feed on some hay as the smallest member races to the front to jump the queue.

The incident was filmed at Taronga Western Plains Zoo, commonly known as Dubbo Zoo, in the city of Dubbo in the Australian state of New South Wales, and was shared on social media on 6th May.

Taronga Western Plains Zoo said on Facebook: “There is always one kid who says it’s not a race when they know it’s totally a race!

“The Hippos from Taronga Western Plains Zoo were just on their way to enjoy some tasty hay until Kani the Hippo calf decides to make a dash and be the first to the hay piles.”

In the clip, the family is seen walking slowly towards the “tasty hay” in a neat row before the smallest member runs past and apparently upsets one sibling.

After racing to the front, the eldest hippo quickens its pace to apparently let the little one know it shouldn’t jump the queue.

Zoo communications officer Jennifer Steed told Newsflash: “There are five hippos in total. In the video, you see the mum and three young offspring (two girls and a boy) and then there is another male not seen in the video who is the father.”

Facebook user ‘Janet Macaskill’ commented: “How very cute is that little procession.”

Netizen ‘Stephanie Stipec’ wrote: “Me walking to the fridge from my desk every ten minutes!”
