Parents On The Run After Kidnapping Toddler Daughter From Child Services
This one-year-old girl has reportedly been kidnapped from a child protection centre by her own parents after they lost custody of her due the father’s violent behaviour.
Lintone Saljihi, 17, and Mustafa Hrustic, 20, have been on the run since the 3rd May, when they allegedly kidnapped their own daughter, Medina, from a child protection centre in the German city of Cologne.
Details about the kidnapping and the investigation were released by the authorities in a statement yesterday, 13th October.
The couple had been deprived of custody of their daughter due to Hrustic’s violent behaviour.
He allegedly beat both his wife and daughter repeatedly before the state took Medina into protection.
Saljihi stayed with her husband despite the alleged violence and was permitted to visit her daughter at the centre, but only under strict supervision.
According to the authorities, Saljihi went to visit Medina on 3rd May and took advantage of a lapse in the supervising officer’s concentration to escape with the girl.
Saljihi ran out of the building with Medina in her arms and jumped into a car that Hrustic parked just outside the clinic.
The couple then drove off and have not been seen since.
The authorities said the couple’s phones have not been used since the incident and they have found no leads in asylum shelters in the surrounding area.
The statement added that Hrustic appears to have his wife “under his control”.
The suspects’ Cologne based family members are reportedly refusing to co-operate with the police.
The cops added that the couple has family connections all across Europe, but did not confirm whether the search will be widened beyond Germany’s borders.
The investigation is ongoing.
