Russian Soldiers Rehearse At Night Ahead Of Red Square Parade To Mark Soviet Victory Over Hitler

This footage shows Russian soldiers rehearsing at night ahead of the 76th Victory Parade to be held in the Red Square to mark the Soviets’ victory over Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler during World War II.

The night training for the preparation of the armed forces for the Victory Day Parade occurred on the Red Square in the Russian capital Moscow.

The Victory Day Parade is a military parade held to honour the traditional Victory Day- a holiday that commemorates the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945 following WWII, known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia.

More than 12,000 marching soldiers will participate in the Moscow Victory Parade 2021.

According to the Ministry of Defence of Russia, the foot column is formed of 37 parade crews, which include officers, sergeants and soldiers of formations and military units, students and cadets of military educational institutions, graduates of the Suvorov military and Nakhimov schools, cadet corps and members of the All-Russian movement “Yunarmiya” as well as representatives of other law enforcement agencies and the Cossack troops.

This year, for the first time, a rank distribution ceremony of the military police of the central military district will take place on the Red Square during the Victory Parade.

The mechanised column of the parade includes more than 190 units of military equipment.

In the training, exercises paraded three types of tanks: historical, modern and advanced models.

The crews of the legendary T-34 tanks will traditionally lead a mechanised column.

The modern line of tanks include the combat vehicles T-72B3M, T-80 BVM and T-90M “Breakthrough” promising – the T-14 tank and the structure of the mechanised column include armoured vehicles of increased security of the Typhoon category and the Typhoon-Air Defense model that will participate in the event for the first time.

Combat vehicles for motorised rifle units are represented by modern BMP-3 and BMP-2 with a fighting compartment “Berezhok” and a promising BMP “Kurganets-25”.

The Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system, the Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system, the MSTA-S self-propelled howitzer and the Koalitsiya-SV inter-service artillery complex will present weapons for the missile forces and artillery.

Modern anti-aircraft missile systems of medium and short-range Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 will present the armament of the military air defence of the Ground Forces. The Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon system and the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system will present defensive anti-aircraft systems of the Aerospace Forces.

The mechanised convoy also includes a category distribution ceremony of the modernised heavy flamethrower system of multiple launch rocket launchers TOS-1A, launchers of the Yars missile system, armoured personnel carriers BTR-82A, including a promising wheeled armoured personnel carrier on the Boomerang platform, armoured vehicles military police, National Guard vehicles and other combat vehicles.

Prior to the night training, the on-foot parade crews and mechanised column crews organised 11 pieces of training in Alabino near Moscow on a special site, which is a model of the country’s main square.

The Ministry of Defence of Russia said that all military personnel taking part in training and supporting the military parade voluntarily underwent a full course of vaccination against the new coronavirus infection Covid-19.

The dress rehearsal for the Moscow Victory Parade on Red Square will take place on May 7.
