This is the moment when a stone-cold killer grabs a cop’s gun and shoots him in the face without turning a hair.
The shockingly casual execution was revealed by grim CCTV footage from a bar in Nova Cruz, north-eastern Brazil, on 2nd July.
Cop Josinaldo Santos de Queiroz was apparently drinking at the bar out of uniform when his killer – named as Alberto Arnold dos Santos – spots his gun in his belt.
As he casually leans forward, Dos Santos grabs the gun and – still with a cigarette in his mouth – shoots the cop twice in the face.
Then as the cop falls to the floor, his killer shoots twice more at point-blank range before tucking the pistol into the waistband of his shorts.
Finally, the gunman pulls out a huge machete-style knife and seems to cut something from the cop’s body.
According to Military Police, the suspect fled on the victim’s motorbike, taking the gun with him.
He was arrested the following day, say justice officials.
Local media reported that the victim was a police officer who lived and worked in Nova Cruz and had 12 years of professional experience.
His killer was identified via the CCTV footage and was located in the community of Barro Preto, in a rural area of the municipality of Nova Cruz, on Sunday.
In a statement, the Prison Service Administration Department (Seap) said: “The loss of a police officer does not affect only the institution, but the whole of society.”
The motive for the killing is unclear, but it is believed the suspect carried out the attack after recognising the officer.
