The country’s virtue promotion department reportedly introduced the new restrictions in the western Afghan province of Herat.

According to local reports, new workout schedules have been organised strictly according to age groups.

Taliban leaders have instructed trainers to create schedules for three age groups

All under 18s will train together while 18 to 21-year-olds will train alone.

Finally, all over 21s will work out in strict isolation from all other age groups.

Taliban lawmakers reportedly said it is “sexually seductive” if adults exercise with teenagers at the same time.

Local sources from the province said adults should not train alongside teenagers “because they will be provoked”.

The Afghan authorities warned trainers and gym owners that they will face severe punishment if they fail to separate members by their age group.

The Taliban has also reportedly told bodybuilding and wrestling clubs to take down images of buff athletes and celebrities from their walls apparently to also prevent “sexually seductive” situations.

In recent months, the Afghan authorities also banned listening to music in sports clubs.
