This is the moment a lightning bolt shoots vertically from the sky and zaps a lake in Connecticut.

The lightning strike was filmed in the town of Guildford in New Haven County located in the north-eastern US state of Connecticut this week.

The Guilford Fire Department told Newsflash: “Amazing lightning strike. A Guilford professional firefighter caught this amazing video behind Station 5 in North Guilford.”

The lightning bolt was filmed by Firefighter Rodriguez and the Guildford Fire Department joked that the “video was cut short so his screaming could not be heard”.

In the clip, thick clouds are seen looming over a picturesque lake behind the fire station when a vertical bolt of lightning suddenly zaps the water surface.
